WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao's Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas (MFK) will temporarily oversee the Ministry of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare (SOAW). The decision, made at the request of the political party KEM, will remain in effect until a new minister is sworn in.
KEM has nominated Dayanara Chin-A-Lien Roozendaal, the current acting secretary-general of SOAW, as their candidate for the ministerial position. This follows the withdrawal of a previous nominee, Jason Fullinck, who stepped back in December citing personal reasons.
The screening process for Roozendaal is expected to conclude soon. In the interim, Prime Minister Pisas will manage the SOAW portfolio alongside his existing duties.
While the decision has raised some questions, KEM has emphasized that the arrangement is necessary to ensure continuity in the ministry's ongoing operations.
