WILLEMSTAD - Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas officially opened the General Assembly of the International Association of Economic and Social Councils and Similar Institutions (AICESIS) at the Renaissance Wind Creek Resort in Willemstad. The AICESIS meeting takes place from October 31 to November 2, 2025, and brings together representatives from more than fifty countries to discuss social justice, economic inclusion, and sustainable growth.

In his opening address, titled “The Power of Dialogue in Shaping Our Common Future,” Prime Minister Pisas highlighted the importance of dialogue — and, by extension, inclusion and solidarity — as foundations for sustainable development and global cooperation.
The Prime Minister welcomed delegates from social and economic councils representing over fifty nations and said that Curaçao is proud to host an organization that places the power of consultation and consensus at its core. He pointed out that international cooperation is under strain worldwide, but AICESIS demonstrates that sincere dialogue remains the most reliable path toward mutual understanding, peace, and progress.
According to Pisas, societies find balance when governments, employers, employees, and experts meet as equals. Inclusion and participation, he stressed, are not merely democratic ideals but essential conditions for social and economic stability. The Prime Minister underlined that social justice is inseparable from sustainability, and that consensus is the greatest strength of democracy.
As Curaçao, through its Social and Economic Council (SER), has held the AICESIS presidency for the past two years, Prime Minister Pisas expressed his gratitude to all member states for their confidence, noting that even a small island like Curaçao can make a meaningful contribution to multilateral cooperation.
He announced that Curaçao will continue to actively promote the core values of AICESIS — dialogue, inclusion, and solidarity — even after its presidency concludes.
Finally, Pisas warmly welcomed Greece as the new chair of AICESIS and expressed confidence that under Greek leadership, the organization will further strengthen its global role.
