WILLEMSTAD - On Sunday, November 9, 2025, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas attended the celebration of the Feast of Saint Willibrordus in Banda Bou, organized by the Fundashon Desaroyo Sint Willibrordus. The event took place in an atmosphere of unity and local pride, where Selikor also marked its 30th anniversary.
In his address, the Prime Minister expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Fundashon Desaroyo Sint Willibrordus for its continued dedication to keeping the community vibrant, strong, and united. He emphasized that St. Willibrordus is more than just a neighborhood: “It is a community with its own soul, defined by the love its residents have for one another.”

Prime Minister Pisas highlighted that nation-building is not solely a task for government but a collective effort that depends on every citizen working together to create strong and resilient communities. Within the framework of the National Nation-Building Plan, he announced that the initiative will start in neighborhoods with both social and economic potential, focusing especially on safety, public services, and opportunities for young people.
During his speech, the Prime Minister shared two important announcements for the St. Willibrordus community:
The road connecting Bullenbaai to Banda Bou will soon be paved to improve accessibility and mobility in the area.
The Government of Curaçao has transferred an amount of ANG 100,000 to the account of the St. Willibrordus Church to continue its renovation, as a symbolic contribution to preserving the community’s religious heritage.
He also called on other institutions and individuals of goodwill to support this renovation project financially so it may continue with the dignity it deserves.
Following his speech, three outstanding residents of the community were honored: Mrs. Enid Hollander, Mr. Boy Kastablank, and Mr. Anthony Curial. Prime Minister Pisas, together with Minister Charles Cooper of the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning (OWCS), presented them with commemorative plaques in recognition of their tireless service to St. Willibrordus.
The Prime Minister concluded his address with the following message:
“Nation-building begins here, in St. Willibrordus itself, and then continues from one neighborhood to another. Every time we roll up our sleeves to work for our community, we are building our country. Let us do this with love, respect, and faith in ourselves, so that Curaçao may truly become the pearl of the Caribbean.”
God bless Curaçao and all the residents of St. Willibrordus.
