WILLEMSTAD – On Tuesday, February 3, 2026, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas received a courtesy visit from Mr. Carlos Ramirez Filpo, Consul General of the Dominican Republic, accompanied by Mr. Ronni Batista Espinal, Vice Consul of the Dominican Republic.
The visit served as an introductory meeting, during which Mr. Ramirez Filpo formally presented himself as the newly appointed Consul General of the Dominican Republic in Curaçao and discussed areas of mutual interest.

During the meeting, Prime Minister Pisas and Mr. Ramirez Filpo exchanged views on potential opportunities for deeper cooperation in the sectors of tourism, healthcare, and agriculture. Both sides highlighted existing agreements, including a memorandum of understanding between the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the Dominican Republic, as mechanisms that could facilitate closer collaboration. Prime Minister Pisas also indicated that Curaçao has an interest in finalizing a double taxation agreement with the Dominican Republic.
Prime Minister Pisas and Mr. Ramirez Filpo reaffirmed their shared commitment to intensifying cooperation between Curaçao and the Dominican Republic and to maintaining ongoing dialogue for the benefit of Curaçao.
