Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas Meets with FIFA, CONCACAF, and FFK Representatives

Local | By Press release April 11, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – On April 10, 2025, Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas held a meeting with representatives from FIFA, CONCACAF, and the Curaçao Football Federation (FFK).

The meeting aimed to update the Prime Minister on the current state of football in Curaçao, including the recent leadership transition within the FFK, the ongoing development of the sport, and the election of the new FFK board, which took place the same day.

Emphasis was placed on the commitment of the current Pisas II Cabinet—and the upcoming Pisas III Cabinet—to continue strengthening and supporting national football and sports in general.

This commitment has already been demonstrated in recent years through tangible improvements, including the installation of new synthetic turf fields, updated lighting systems at various stadiums, and the construction of a new stadium in Soto.

The vision of the incoming Pisas III government is to continue investing in football and its infrastructure, which is seen as a vital foundation for channeling the energy of young people into positive pursuits and keeping them away from criminal activities.

FIFA and CONCACAF representatives expressed their appreciation for the continued efforts of the Government of Curaçao. They also reaffirmed their commitment to working alongside the FFK in the structural development of football in Curaçao, with the goal of helping the island establish its own strong football identity.

The meeting took place in a spirit of collaboration, with open dialogue focused on strengthening the foundations of an even closer relationship between local and international stakeholders, all in the interest of Curaçao’s football future.
