SANTO DOMINGO - Curaçao’s Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas met with Dominican Republic President Luis Abinader yesterday evening to discuss matters of mutual interest. The meeting, which lasted about 40 minutes, covered a range of topics of regional and international significance, according to a statement from the Office of the Dominican President.

Prime Minister Pisas is leading a delegation from the Kingdom of the Netherlands to the Dominican Republic to attend the inauguration of President Abinader, who will be sworn in for a second term on Friday. The event is expected to draw several regional leaders to Santo Domingo.
Among the notable arrivals are Suriname's President Chandrikapersad Santokhi and El Salvador's Vice President Félix Ulloa, who have already touched down in the Dominican capital. President Santokhi received a guard of honour upon his arrival.
President Abinader secured his re-election on May 19 with over 57 percent of the vote. His party, the Modern Revolutionary Party (PRM), also achieved significant victories in the Senate and Chamber of Deputies, securing large majorities in both chambers.
