Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas Attends Suriname’s 50th Independence Anniversary Celebrations

WILLEMSTAD, PARAMARIBO - Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas is in Paramaribo today to participate in the celebrations marking 50 years of Suriname’s independence. The Curaçaoan leader arrived on Friday and will remain in Suriname until 27 November, following an official invitation from the Surinamese government.

During his stay, Pisas will take part in several activities, including company visits, a networking event with the private sector, and an official meeting with President Jennifer Geerlings-Simons.

Curaçao Delegation Accompanies the Prime Minister

The Curaçaoan delegation includes:

They will accompany Prime Minister Pisas in the various diplomatic and ceremonial engagements scheduled throughout the visit.

Formal Ceremony on Independence Day

On Suriname’s 50th Independence Day, Pisas will attend the special session of the Surinamese National Assembly, followed by a military parade and an official reception at the Presidential Palace.

The visit underscores the continued diplomatic ties and historical connection between Curaçao and Suriname as the South American nation marks half a century of nationhood.
