WILLEMSTAD – A recent price comparison conducted by the Fundashon pa Konsumidó reveals that many basic grocery items in Curaçao supermarkets have become slightly cheaper between March and June 2025. The foundation compared prices at 17 supermarkets and minimarkets across the island, noting significant differences especially in the categories of meat, cold cuts, fruits, and vegetables.
While some individual items have increased in price, the foundation states that, overall, prices of the selected products have either remained stable or decreased.
For example, the price of mangoes at Van den Tweel rose from 3.79 guilders per kilo in March to nearly 6.90 guilders in June, while at Timmy, mangoes increased from 10.90 to 15.50 guilders per kilo.
On the other hand, some products have seen notable price drops. At Vreugdenhil, the price of corn dropped from nearly 8.50 to 5 guilders per kilo. Green pears at Carrefour saw a dramatic decrease from over 10 guilders to just under 4.90 guilders per kilo.
Meat products showed some of the most striking declines. At Mangusa Hyper and Rio, beef liver fell from nearly 15 guilders to just over 6.90 guilders per kilo. At Bon Bini Supermarket, sirloin steak dropped from almost 30 guilders to 22.45 guilders per kilo. However, prices for sliced young cheese and shoulder ham rose in most supermarkets.
The foundation emphasizes that this comparison does not take into account the quality or origin of the products. Consumers are encouraged to view the complete price list at www.fundashonpakonsumido.cw, monitor price trends, and shop consciously.
