WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao’s Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas has received an invitation from Surinamese President Chan Santokhi to attend the 49th Independence Day celebrations of the Republic of Suriname on November 25. The invitation follows a recent visit by President Santokhi to Curaçao, where both leaders worked on strengthening bilateral ties.
During his visit to Curaçao, President Santokhi and Prime Minister Pisas discussed collaborations in various sectors, including trade, agriculture, fisheries, gas, oil, and tourism. This visit came on the heels of Pisas’ similar engagement with the Dominican Republic earlier this year during the inauguration of President Luis Abinader.
For Prime Minister Pisas, the Suriname Independence Day celebration represents a new opportunity to expand these partnerships. The focus will be on exploring fresh avenues that can economically and socially benefit both nations.
Through these international collaborations, Curaçao is positioning itself to strengthen regional ties, fostering opportunities for shared growth and development. Both countries stand to benefit from mutual knowledge exchange and resource sharing. According to the Ministry of General Affairs, this is a strategic move to enhance Curaçao’s standing within the region.
