WILLEMSTAD - The diesel engine of the Pontoon bridge must be replaced by a sustainable one, namely an electric motor, Curaçao Ports Authority (CPA) reports.
The new system should ensure that the bridge has fewer defects. Despite the maintenance plan, according to CPA it sometimes happens that the current engine refuses. When this happens, there is always a tugboat standing by to open and close the bridge.
CPA has done several studies into the transition from the old diesel engine to a new electric motor. The resulting information will be used for the continuation of this project.
The new engine is still about two years away. CPA will announce more about the arrival of the new engine at a later date.
