Political Parties in Curaçao Yet to Release Election Platforms as March 21st Approaches

Local | By Correspondent February 28, 2025

WILLEMSTAD - With the elections in Curaçao just around the corner on March 21st, many political parties have yet to release their official party programs. This lack of transparency leaves voters with limited access to information about the parties' positions and plans.

Movementu Futuro Kòrsou (MFK) has not yet presented its party program, instead referring to a future press conference with no specific date. Newcomer Mihó Kòrsou and Kòrsou Esun Miho (KEM) are also delaying the release of their platforms. Partido Nashonal di Pueblo (PNP) has stated that its program will be available only after Carnival. Other parties, such as MAN/PIN and Trabou pa Kòrsou (TPK), are sharing their plans solely through QR codes on social media.

On the other hand, Partido Alternativo Real (PAR) and Movementu Kousa Promé have made their platforms available online, though only a small portion of parties are offering Dutch-language versions. This poses a challenge for non-Papiamento-speaking voters to assess the election promises effectively.

The limited transparency raises concerns about the accessibility of information. Voters must make an informed decision on March 21st, but many are missing crucial details about the political direction of the parties. A clear and publicly accessible party program is essential for a healthy democracy, yet many parties are falling short in this regard.
