WILLEMSTAD - The police warns the public to be alert due to robberies. The first two weeks of this year there was a strong increase, just like the last weeks in December.

To reduce the chance of a robbery, you must make sure there is plenty of lighting outside your house. Plants and trees must also be pruned to maintain a good view.

Check your locks carefully and use them when you are inside. Do not leave things in the garden that are handy for thieves, such as ladders and step stools.

And if you can afford it, install cameras, fencing, and an alarm system. If necessary, take a dog to watch over your house.
