Police Warn of New Car Theft Method Linked to Car Washes

| By Correspondent March 19, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Police Force (KPC) is warning the public about a new method of car theft in which criminals allegedly use information obtained through car washes.

According to a police statement, individuals working at car wash facilities may gain access to personal information by checking documents left inside vehicles. These details, including home addresses, are then reportedly passed on to third parties.

The information is subsequently used to target vehicles at the owners’ residences, where car parts are stolen.

Police are urging vehicle owners to take precautions and avoid leaving personal documents inside their cars when taking them to be washed.

Authorities emphasize that simple measures, such as removing sensitive information from vehicles, can help prevent becoming a victim of this type of crime.
