WILLEMSTAD - The police have made five arrests in recent days for various robberies, car theft and domestic violence. This is reported by the police.
A group of four armed men committed a robbery at a family on Tuesday morning. The investigation did not show that the men were linked to the family. The robbers made off with phones and cash. Police arrested a 25-year-old man at his home on Inaguaweg in Buena Vista. A house search was also done there and items that are important in the investigation were confiscated. The suspect was brought before the public prosecutor and detained after questioning.
The police received another report on Tuesday morning and arrested a 17-year-old man on suspicion of complicity in the theft of a car in April 2022 on Santa Rosaweg. The suspect was apprehended by the joyriding team at his home in Montaña. He was brought before the public prosecutor, but was subsequently released.
That same Tuesday, a 51-year-old Colombian man was arrested in connection with a car theft around 4:30 p.m. The car is said to have been stolen on November 5 on Seru Fortunaweg. The man was charged and released after questioning.
On Wednesday, the police arrested an 18-year-old suspect in connection with a robbery in the night from Tuesday to Wednesday. The suspect is said to have broken into and committed a robbery at a house in Ronde Klip. According to the police, the man had a firearm with him, with which he threatened the residents. The suspect left with some belongings. Moments later, the man was arrested in a vehicle in the Weto area. Two other suspects fled. The boy has been questioned and is being held.
Finally, the police arrested a 43-year-old man on Wednesday in connection with an investigation into domestic violence. This took place between December 2022 and January 2023. The detectives are said to have carried out a house search near Parera on behalf of the Public Prosecution Service. The man has been arrested and is in custody pending further investigation.
