| By Correspondent February 19, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – During the Carnival period, police made a total of 50 arrests as part of the zero tolerance enforcement policy. Most of the arrests took place along major parade routes, including Weg naar Welgelegen, Roodeweg, Breedestraat Otrobanda, and Brionplein.

According to the Korps Politie Curaçao, both the Tiener Parade and the Gran Marcha resulted in 13 arrests each. During the Children’s Farewell Parade, 11 individuals were taken into custody. In addition, one arrest was made during the children’s parade and one during the Bandabou parade.

The majority of arrests were related to public intoxication, acts of violence, traffic violations, and offenses under the Opium Act. Police maintained a visible presence throughout the festivities, particularly along the main routes where large crowds had gathered.

A number of suspects were able to settle their cases immediately by paying a fine. In total, 3,219 guilders in transactions were imposed during the Carnival period.

Police stated that the zero tolerance approach was aimed at ensuring public safety and maintaining order during one of the island’s busiest and most crowded events of the year.
