Police Issue Fines to Over 80% of Drivers During Morning Traffic Checks

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Police Force conducted several traffic inspections on Monday morning, during which more than 80 percent of drivers were fined. Out of 75 vehicles stopped, 65 drivers received an official citation.

The traffic controls took place between 6:30 a.m. and 10:45 a.m. at various locations, including Kaya Tuna, Santa Rosa, and Jongbloed.

According to police, the majority of fines were issued for driving without a valid inspection certificate, driver’s license, insurance, or proof of paid road tax.

Officers also fined drivers for not wearing seat belts, driving with tinted windows, and driving in prohibited directions.

Authorities say the operation is part of an ongoing effort to improve road safety and enforce compliance with traffic regulations. The police announced that additional traffic checks will be carried out in the coming weeks.
