Police Issue 92 Fines During Traffic Checks Across Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – A total of 92 fines were issued during a series of traffic checks carried out earlier this week by the Curaçao Police Force, following inspections of 215 vehicles in three separate operations.

The controls took place on Tuesday, May 13, and Thursday, May 15. The first round of checks was conducted by the Rio Canario police station on Van Krimpenlaan, where 45 vehicles were inspected. Officers handed out 39 citations for violations such as driving without a valid license, lack of insurance or road tax documents, not wearing a seatbelt, driving with tinted windows, or missing a front license plate.

On Thursday evening, the Uniform Support Team (UST) conducted another traffic operation on Nijlweg between 5:35 p.m. and 6:50 p.m. Of the 78 vehicles checked, 17 fines were issued—mostly for the same types of infractions.

Later that day, a third inspection followed on Jan Noorduynweg and F.D. Rooseveltweg, again led by the Rio Canario team. Officers checked 92 vehicles and issued 46 fines, mainly for driving without proper documentation or with excessively tinted windows.

The Curaçao Police Force stressed the importance of road safety and announced that additional enforcement actions will continue in the coming weeks to ensure compliance with traffic regulations.
