WILLEMSTAD – A traffic control operation near the intersection of Kaya C. Winkel and Schottegatweg-Zuid resulted in 51 fines on Wednesday, according to the Curaçao Police Force (KPC).
Over 100 Vehicles Checked
The traffic inspection, conducted between 12:00 PM and 1:45 PM, involved officers from Punda, along with traffic police and neighborhood officers from Otrobanda and Rio Canario. A total of 103 vehicles were checked during the operation.
Most Fines for Running Red Lights
The majority of violations were for running red lights, leading to 23 official citations. Additionally, 28 other traffic offenses were recorded, including:
Driving without a valid license or insurance
Operating a vehicle without a valid inspection card
Missing front or rear license plates
Using illegal tinted film on windshields
Authorities stress that regular traffic controls will continue to improve road safety and ensure compliance with local traffic laws.
