WILLEMSTAD - Police are investigating a new hit-and-run case on Helmin Magno Wiels Boulevard. Although no people were injured, police consider the accident a hit-and-run as damage was caused and the driver left the crime scene.
According to witnesses, the driver of the dark blue passenger car lost control of the vehicle. He lurched across the road and slammed into a light pole. The car ended up on the sidewalk along the road. The man would then have collected the parts that had fallen from the car as a result of the collision and placed them in the car. He then locked the car and left.
It is not known whether it is a stolen car or whether the vehicle was otherwise involved in criminal activity. Police are still in the dark about the driver's motive for leaving his car after the accident.
The car has been seized as part of the investigation.
