WILLEMSTAD – In a joint operation, the Curaçao Police and the Enforcement Team of the Ministry of Traffic, Transport and Urban Planning (VVRP) have shut down illegal construction activities in the Seu Fortuna Ariba area. Authorities discovered multiple unauthorized structures being built on protected government land.
During the operation, officials engaged with the individuals present at the site and ordered an immediate stop to all construction work. In addition, seven people without valid residence permits were detained, and five vehicles and one motorcycle were confiscated.
According to the VVRP Ministry, several public awareness campaigns have already been conducted to inform residents that building without proper permits is prohibited. Despite these efforts, unauthorized construction remains a frequent issue on the island.
Authorities emphasized that they will continue to enforce the law to protect public land and ensure safe, regulated development.
