WILLEMSTAD - The police in Curaçao have made a significant arrest following a series of thefts and robberies in August. The suspect, a 31-year-old man, is connected to two separate robberies in Willemstad.
On August 8th, there was a report of a robbery on Jacob Binckestraat. Six days later, on August 14th, a similar incident occurred on Pelikaanweg. Additionally, the man is also linked to a theft on the same day in August on Helmin Magno Wiels Boulevard, near the Pico Cash & Carry supermarket.
The arrest was carried out by the specialized robbery team of the police on Friday, August 18th, around 14:15 hours. The location of the arrest was on Jan Erasmusstraat in Willemstad. After his arrest, the suspect was presented to a deputy prosecutor. After questioning, it was decided to detain the man pending further investigation into the mentioned incidents.
The police continue their investigation and do not rule out further arrests in this case. Ensuring safety in the region and rigorously addressing such crimes is a priority for local authorities.
