WILLEMSTAD - A police pursuit in the Buena Vista neighborhood ended in a shooting incident on Sunday.

Police reportedly said the man was acting suspiciously and ignored multiple orders to stop.

During the chase on Sto. Domingoweg, officers opened fire, striking the suspect in the leg. Despite being wounded, the man attempted to flee and ran into a nearby yard, where he was apprehended shortly afterward by police.

The injured suspect was transported by ambulance to the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) for medical treatment, authorities confirmed.

An investigation into the incident is underway.
