Police busy with traffic accidents

WILLEMSTAD - The police had to intervene several times yesterday to handle accidents. On average, there were 35 traffic accidents and damage reports on the roads of Curaçao. 

On Kaya Ma Pieternella, the police arrested a driver yesterday who caused an accident with a motorcyclist. The incident occurred when the van suddenly made a U-turn as the motorcyclist approached. As a result, the motorcyclist suffered a broken leg. While the police attended to the victim and repaired the damage, it was discovered that the driver who caused the accident had left the scene. After investigation, it was found that the driver's documents were not in order, resulting in the seizure of the vehicle for further investigation. 

Yesterday afternoon, police and an ambulance responded to a major traffic accident at the traffic lights in Biesheuvel, involving two trucks and a family car. According to initial reports at the scene, the brakes of the second truck failed, causing it to collide with the truck in front of it. Subsequently, the family car was pushed into another car waiting at the traffic light. 

The driver of one of the trucks was injured in the accident and had to be transported by ambulance to the CMC for further medical treatment. The incident caused significant material damage. 

Near Ennia on Gorsiraweg, a car veered off the road and ended up in a ditch after a collision. Two vehicles were involved, with one hitting the guardrail before veering off the road, resulting in significant material damage. 

A car was heavily damaged after colliding with the fence of Isla on Schottegatweg West towards Rio Canario. The driver stated that they had to swerve to avoid another vehicle, resulting in the crash. 

On Nijlweg, negligence caused a collision between a car and an SUV, fortunately resulting in no personal injuries but significant material damage. 

On Kaya Nathan, the police discovered an abandoned vehicle that had landed in a ditch. Upon investigation, it was found that the driver had left the scene, and a machete was confiscated.
