WILLEMSTAD - Last Sunday, the police of Curaçao made two separate arrests of individuals who were residing on the island without proper documentation. Both incidents took place in Willemstad and involved violations of the Immigration and Emigration Act (LTU).
In the first case, around 5:10 PM on Scharlooweg, the police stopped a vehicle that seemed suspicious to them. Upon inspection, the two occupants, two men aged 26 and 25 from Ecuador, were found to be residing on the island illegally. They were immediately arrested and handed over to the immigration department for further processing and planned deportation.
The second incident occurred earlier that day, at 11:18 AM, when a 38-year-old man from Jamaica crashed his car into a wall in the Kanga neighborhood. When the police arrived, the man attempted to leave the scene but was stopped. Upon inspection, it was found that this man was also residing on the island illegally. He was likewise arrested and handed over to the immigration department for deportation.
