PNP: 'Marriage only between man and woman'

Local | By Correspondent December 16, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - The ruling party PNP is firmly opposed to the introduction of same-sex marriage. Only a man and a woman can marry each other. The party states this in a press release.

Same-sex marriage would be contrary to the Christian values of Curaçao society. The institution of marriage is for procreation. Two people of the same sex cannot have children naturally. That is why the PNP supports the decision to appeal to the Supreme Court.

The court recently made a historic ruling by legalizing same-sex marriage. The Curaçao government is acting in violation of the constitution by discriminating against a minority in society.
