PNP legislator accuses Prime Minister Pisas of unreliability

Local | By Correspondent August 28, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Elvin Gerard, a member of Parliament for the PNP, has accused Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas of being unreliable. Gerard's comments follow a recent political upheaval in which the PNP broke its coalition with the MFK last Wednesday.

Gerard expressed his disappointment with Pisas, who, as the leader of the MFK, claimed that his party was not engaging with other parties for coalition talks. However, Gerard contends that Pisas's statements were misleading. According to Gerard, an agreement had already been reached with Zita Jesus-Leito and the KEM to join the coalition by that time.

The PNP legislator pointed out that on Wednesday morning, Jesus-Leito and KEM had already submitted letters to the governor expressing their support for the coalition. At that point, the PNP had not yet formally exited the coalition, indicating that Pisas's claims were not accurate.
