WILLEMSTAD – The opposition Partido Nashonal di Pueblo (PNP) says it is standing firmly behind Member of Parliament Elvin Gerard following what the party describes as intimidation attempts and personal attacks by Minister Charles Cooper.
In a sharply worded statement issued Monday, the PNP accused Cooper of spreading false information and attempting to silence criticism surrounding the growing controversy over delays and complaints at the Domain Management Office.
According to the opposition party, Curaçao is facing a “real crisis” at Domain Management, where thousands of citizens have reportedly waited for years for answers regarding land applications, legalization requests, or access to property needed to build homes and secure their future.

The PNP said frustration among the population has become increasingly visible in recent weeks, particularly following protests and public criticism directed at the government’s handling of land allocation procedures.
The party stated that Gerard has consistently brought the concerns of citizens both inside and outside Parliament, demanding transparency and faster action from the government.
Instead of addressing the underlying problems, the PNP claims the ruling Movementu Futuro Kòrsou (MFK) has chosen what it described as its “modus operandi” by allegedly using intimidation tactics and misinformation to undermine parliamentary oversight.
“Esaki ta algu ku ta keda kompletamente inaseptabel den nos demokrasia,” the statement said.
The PNP stressed that no public official should attempt to divert attention away from management failures by attacking politicians who demand accountability on behalf of citizens.
The party also repeated its parliamentary slogan: “Kontrolá. Proponé. Mehorá.” (“Control. Propose. Improve.”)
According to the opposition, Gerard’s actions are fully aligned with that principle and focused on defending the interests of ordinary citizens rather than engaging in political showmanship.
The statement concluded with a call for Minister Cooper to stop personal attacks and instead focus on solving what the PNP called the “disaster” at Domain Management.
The opposition vowed to continue closely monitoring the issue and demanding answers until what it describes as concrete and fair solutions are delivered to the people of Curaçao.
