WILLEMSTAD - Today, Her Excellency the Governor of Curaçao, Lucille George-Wout, received the new portrait of His Majesty King Willem-Alexander for the Governor's Palace in Curaçao. The unveiling of the painting took place at Galerie De Twee Pauwen in The Hague.
The painting was created by artist Karel Buskes on behalf of the Governor's Cabinet. Buskes also painted the current portrait of the King, which has been hanging in the Palace since 2013.
The new painting will soon be shipped to Willemstad and will take its place in the Governor's Palace. The public will have the opportunity to view the portrait for the first time on December 13, 14, and 15, when the Palace will be open to the public as part of the 70th anniversary of the Charter for the Kingdom of the Netherlands and the celebration of Kingdom Day.

The "playful" unveiling of the portrait took place today, but the official unveiling will occur on Kingdom Day at the Governor's Palace in Willemstad.
