WILLEMSTAD - Several footballers have ignored a letter from Dick Advocaat inviting them to play for Curaçao, said the coach of the Curaçao national team in a television broadcast of Veronica Offside.
Advocaat stated that a letter was sent to Justin Kluivert, Tahith Chong, and Riechedly Bazoer. None of the three players responded.
The coach mentioned that some players still "believe they are good enough for the Dutch National Team" and therefore did not respond to his request. Advocaat added that players who register during the World Cup qualifiers are still welcome.
The Curaçao Football Federation released a list of preselected players a few days ago. The names of Kluivert, Chong, and Bazoer were not included.
The first qualifying matches are on June 5 against Barbados and on June 8 against Aruba.
