Pisas Discusses Reform Cooperation Evaluation With Dutch State Secretary, Parliament to Decide on Extension

Local, The Netherlands, | By Press release March 27, 2026

WILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas has held consultations with State Secretary Eric van der Burg regarding the evaluation of cooperation within the Kingdom in the implementation of the reform agenda under the Country Package.

On Wednesday, March 25, 2026, the Evaluation Committee for the Mutual Arrangement for Cooperation on Reforms presented its report, including conclusions and recommendations, to the Council of Ministers. The committee assessed cooperation between the countries of the Kingdom in the context of the reform program established under the Country Package, which has been in effect since 2020 following the COVID-19 crisis.

During a virtual meeting on March 26, Prime Minister Pisas and the state secretary discussed the next steps. Pisas indicated that Curaçao Parliament will first be informed about the findings, conclusions, and recommendations of the evaluation committee. In this context, the governments of the four countries within the Kingdom agreed to submit the report simultaneously to their respective parliaments on April 2.

Following this, the government will issue its formal response, after which the matter will be debated in parliament. During that debate, the government will clarify whether the mutual arrangement will be extended and under what conditions. In principle, such an extension could be granted for a maximum period of two years, although any extension will require the approval of Curaçao Parliament.
