THE HAGUE, WILLEMSTAD – Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas is also part of the Dutch delegation participating in the 28th UN Climate Conference, COP28. This event takes place from November 30 to December 12 in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

In addition to Pisas, youth representative Muskaan Khemani from Curaçao is part of the Dutch delegation. She advocates for environmental and climate issues.
During the conference, which focuses on the Global Stocktake – the first assessment of global climate action since the 2015 agreements, of which Curaçao is not a part – the Dutch delegation is particularly committed to mitigation, adaptation, and financing. A special focus is on phasing out fossil fuel subsidies and establishing a Loss and Damage Fund for the most vulnerable countries.
Muskaan Khemani, originally from Curaçao, represents the young voice of the Caribbean during the conference. Her focus is on promoting climate justice and exploring the impact of climate change on minority communities in Curaçao. She documents and shares her experiences with a personal interest in the relationship between climate change and colonialism.
