WILLEMSTAD - Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Dorothy Pietersz-Janga met on Thursday with the Association of Pharmacists and Owners (UAE). Members discussed the high cost of medicines.
The owners of pharmacies sent an urgent letter last week regarding "over-the-counter" (OTC) medicines. The pharmacists want a decision to be made as soon as possible about the sale of OTCs, which are paid for by the Social Insurance Bank (SVB). Both sides have decided to continue the meeting in February.
At the moment, people with basic insurance can get medicines such as paracetamol from the pharmacy, almost free of charge. Last year, the Inspectorate advised removing OTC medicines from the basic package.
