WILLEMSTAD - In a welcome development for pensioners of the Social Insurance Bank (SVB), the long-anticipated bonus for former employees is set to be disbursed on Friday, December 1.
Despite some initial uncertainty regarding the funding source for this bonus, it has been clarified that the funds will be derived from the government's repayment to the SVB. All retirees eligible for a Christmas bonus will see the amount deposited into their accounts alongside their regular pension disbursement.
Expressing satisfaction with the resolution of this matter, the Ministry of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare highlighted that the government promptly approved the SVB's request. This decision was facilitated by the outstanding debt that the Country Curaçao still owed to the insurance bank.
The Ministry of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare (SOAW) emphasized that this initiative adds an extra festive touch to December for the pensioners.
