Local | By Correspondent October 6, 2022

WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament Ana Maria Pauletta of the PAR factions wants girls in Curaçao to be given the option to be vaccinated against the human papillomavirus (HPV). Pauletta indicated this via social media.

The Member of Parliament has asked questions about this to the Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Dorothy Pietersz-Janga. Pauletta states that one-third of women between the ages of 25 and 35 carry the virus. The HPV virus can cause cervical cancer. Pauletta asks for Pietersz-Janga's opinion on the introduction of an HPV vaccination course for 9-year-old girls.

Pauletta indicates that she also wants to start a catching-up process for 10–25-year-old women.
