WILLEMSTAD - Hospital Nobo Otrobanda (HNO) has taken note of publications related to the opening of the new hospital. According to those publications, patient safety in the new hospital would be at risk.
For the HNO, patient safety is always the first priority on the list because they are dealing with people.
From the start of the project it was decided that the hospital cannot open without the required permission from the Inspector General of Public Health, the highest independent body at the level of public health in Curaçao. As to date the Inspector has not made a decision in this regard. As long as this is not the case, third parties cannot decide whether or not the hospital will open.
There have been regular consultations with the Inspectorate for some time. Hereby the process is evaluated step by step, with careful evaluation of the progress. The final decision is therefore in the hands of the Inspectorate.
The HNO again points out that 15 November 2019 is set as the target date for the new hospital to open, provided that patient safety is guaranteed.
Hospital Nobo Otrobanda will regularly inform the community about the developments during the coming days.
