PATH Launches New Billboard Campaign Against Sexual Exploitation in Curaçao

Organization urges the public to report signs of modern slavery and human trafficking

WILLEMSTAD - The non-profit organization PATH has launched a new billboard campaign across Curaçao to raise awareness about sexual and labor exploitation on the island. The initiative aims to educate residents about the many forms of human trafficking and exploitation that still occur in local communities.

The campaign is part of PATH’s renewed outreach strategy, which highlights both labor abuse and sexual exploitation as pressing human rights issues. Through striking visuals and clear messaging, the billboards encourage residents to recognize and report suspicious situations.

Reporting Makes a Difference

PATH is calling on citizens to take action by reporting potential cases of exploitation to PATH itself, the Curaçao Police Force (KPC), or the Public Prosecutor’s Office (OM).

“Reporting a suspicious situation can mean the difference between oppression and freedom,” the organization stated, describing human exploitation as a form of modern slavery that continues to exist in Curaçao.

Community Cooperation Is Key

PATH emphasizes that vigilance and cooperation among citizens are essential to combating exploitation. The organization urges everyone on the island not to look away when confronted with signs of abuse.

“Together, we can save lives and build a safer future for everyone on Curaçao,” PATH said in its public appeal.

The campaign marks one of the most visible efforts to date to tackle the hidden problem of human trafficking on the island and promote a culture of awareness, protection, and collective responsibility.
