WILLEMSTAD – The pretrial detention of Pastor Carlos Donado has been suspended, while the investigation into him continues. This decision was made by a court-appointed judge yesterday. The pastor remains a suspect and must remain available to the authorities.
Pastor Carlos was arrested on Monday, February 17, at Curaçao's airport upon his arrival from Colombia. His arrest is related to an investigation into money laundering. Since then, he has been in custody, and on Friday, February 28, the judge decided to extend his detention until yesterday.
In the latest development, authorities have recently seized a luxury vehicle belonging to the pastor. A large portion of the money he is believed to have laundered comes from donations made by churchgoers.
The Willemstad Diocese issued a statement expressing its commitment to cooperate with the authorities in order to resolve this matter as quickly as possible.
