Passengers on Cancelled Curaçao–Amsterdam Corendon Flight Entitled to €600 Compensation

| By Correspondent March 2, 2026

AMSTERDAM – Passengers affected by the cancellation of Corendon flight CD5990 between Curaçao and Amsterdam last week may be entitled to €600 in compensation per person, according to claims organization EUclaim. The flight was cancelled due to a malfunctioning air-conditioning system, a technical defect that falls under the airline’s responsibility under European passenger rights regulations.

Following the cancellation, Corendon deployed a smaller replacement aircraft. As a result, not all passengers could be accommodated, leaving a number of travelers stranded in Curaçao. Passengers who were eventually transported to Amsterdam but arrived with significant delays may also be eligible for compensation, EUclaim stated.

In addition to financial compensation, airlines are required to provide care for stranded passengers. This includes hotel accommodation, meals, and transportation where necessary. EUclaim advises affected travelers to keep all receipts related to these expenses so they can be reimbursed afterward.

Passengers who encounter difficulties obtaining compensation or reimbursement from the airline can seek assistance from a claims organization to pursue their rights under European aviation regulations.
