Parliamentary Work Stalled Amid Delays in Pisas-III Cabinet Formation

WILLEMSTAD – The Curaçao Parliament is currently unable to function at full capacity due to delays in the formation of the new Pisas-III cabinet. The main issue is reportedly the lack of clarity surrounding the screening process for the proposed ministers.

As long as the screening process remains incomplete, essential parliamentary committees cannot be installed, effectively bringing the legislative process to a halt. Parliamentary Chairperson Fergino Brownbill (MFK) acknowledged the situation in remarks to the press, urging the public and political colleagues to remain patient.

Meanwhile, the opposition has voiced increasing frustration, calling for greater transparency and timely updates on the status of the cabinet formation.

“If there is no progress by the end of the week, Parliament may reconvene to consider next steps,” a source within Parliament confirmed.

The ongoing delays raise concerns about governance and continuity at a critical time, as key legislative and administrative decisions remain pending. The full functionality of Parliament is expected to resume only once the new cabinet is formally installed and ministerial screenings are concluded.
