WILLEMSTAD - Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia is set to become the newest member of Curaçao's parliament, with the review of her credentials scheduled for Monday, October 14. The former minister will take over from Elvin Gerard as a member of parliament (Statenlid) on November 1. Initially, her swearing-in was planned for earlier, but Gerard expressed his desire to attend the upcoming session on the state of the General Practitioners Post, which is also on the agenda for Monday.
Larmonie-Cecilia, the leader of the Partido Nashonal di Pueblo (PNP), is looking forward to this next step in her political career. She previously served as a member of parliament for Pueblo Soberano and was the Minister of Social Development, Labor, and Welfare until August 21, when she, along with the two other PNP ministers, resigned from the coalition government. They officially submitted their resignations to the governor on that date.
