WILLEMSTAD - The meeting that Parliament was supposed to hold on high fuel prices took place on Tuesday. The parties MFK and KEM deemed the meeting unnecessary, but Member of Parliament Steven Croes (PAR) expressed his disagreement.
The discussion about high fuel prices has been ongoing for years, and the request to discuss it in Parliament was made in 2022. Until Tuesday, nothing had come of it, something that MFK faction leader Gilbert 'Gibi' Doran does not find troubling. He argues that the questions about this were all answered by Minister Ruthmilda Larmonie-Cecilia (PNP) last year during a designated question hour.
However, Croes believed that it was now more than relevant to proceed with the meeting because there have been no drastic decreases in gasoline and diesel prices recently. He also raised the issue of inflation, which has only increased in recent years, causing financial difficulties for families.
