WILLEMSTAD - After a lengthy week of meetings, parliament yesterday approved the 2025 budget with 15 votes in favor. Prior to the vote, parliamentarians shared their views on the budget. The MAN faction voted against it, arguing that the citizens are not benefiting enough from the economic growth. According to Ana Maria Pauletta from the PAR, there are too many uncertainties in the budget, and ministers are exploiting these gaps.
In addition to the coalition parties, only the PNP from the opposition voted in favor. Parliament member Eduard Braam stated that a country's budget is crucial for governing the nation. He emphasized that it is directly tied to the government's management. When a parliament member votes against it, they are effectively rejecting the government's policy.
