Local | By Correspondent August 16, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - In a recent session, the Parliament Central Committee convened to delve into the crucial issue of excluding vitamins and minerals from the coverage of basic health insurance policies against healthcare expenses, commonly referred to as BZV (care insurance) expenses. The management of this matter falls under the purview of the Social Insurance Bank (SVB).

The committee meeting took place on Monday, August 14, 2023, and saw Members of Parliament congregating to engage with a presentation from the SVB management. The presentation aimed to shed light on the intricacies of the decision to exclude vitamins and minerals from the scope of coverage for basic health insurance policyholders, concerning their healthcare expenses, particularly those pertaining to the BZV framework.

Post the comprehensive presentation, Members of Parliament were granted the platform to pose inquiries directly related to the topic at hand. The subsequent exchange allowed for a deeper understanding of the rationale and implications of the proposed exclusion.

As the first round of questions concluded, the SVB expressed their desire to furnish answers to the raised queries. Recognizing the significance of this dialogue, Parliament President, Mrs. Charetti America-Francisca, formally adjourned the session, with a commitment to reconvene at a later date for further deliberation.
