WILLEMSTAD – The PAR faction in Parliament has raised serious concerns following recent media reports about alleged financial irregularities involving Kas di Kòrsou, Curaçao’s official representation in the Netherlands, and its financial dealings with the Parliament of Curaçao.
What makes the situation particularly alarming, according to PAR, is that the suspicions center on transactions between two high-level government institutions — the Curaçao Parliament and its own representation abroad.
In a public statement, PAR emphasized that such accusations cast a dark shadow over the integrity of both Parliament and Kas di Kòrsou. The party stressed the urgent need for transparency, accountability, and equal treatment, regardless of political affiliation.
“If in the past, the President of Parliament filed a complaint against a Member of Parliament over alleged document irregularities in the name of transparency and integrity, then the same principle must apply now,” the statement said.
PAR emphasized that public funds are involved, and there is growing concern that a lack of proper oversight and accountability has persisted for years, potentially allowing irregularities to go unchecked.
In response, PAR has submitted 12 formal questions to the President of Parliament, requesting clarification and full disclosure of the financial interactions with Kas di Kòrsou. The party aims to assess what corrective actions, if any, Parliament needs to take.
According to PAR, conflicting reports in the media highlight the urgency of clarification, as several public details appear inconsistent or incomplete.
“Only full transparency will eliminate speculation and allow the public to understand what really happened,” the statement continued. “We trust that the President of Parliament will treat this matter with the seriousness it deserves and provide both Parliament and the people with a clear and honest explanation regarding the use of public funds.”
