WILLEMSTAD – By 12:00 PM today, a total of 25,133 voters had already cast their ballots, according to an update from the Electoral Council. In total, 111,781 citizens are eligible to vote in the elections.
Polling stations opened on time at 8:00 AM, with the exception of one location, which faced a delay due to a locked gate. The issue prevented voters from entering, and the polling station was only able to open at 8:50 AM after the problem was resolved.
Law enforcement reported that the elections have proceeded relatively smoothly, with only two minor incidents. At polling station 69, police were called in after a woman refused to leave the voting booth. Officers intervened and spoke with her before she eventually left the premises.
At polling station 104, a female journalist asked someone to take a photo of her while she was casting her vote. The polling station chairperson called the police, who addressed the matter with the journalist.
Despite these incidents, the Electoral Council and police authorities have indicated that the election process has been running without major disruptions so far.
