Over 100 Kilos of Waste Removed from Curaçao Waters in Massive Dive Cleanup

Local | By Correspondent April 8, 2025

WILLEMSTAD – A group of more than thirty divers removed over one hundred kilograms of waste from the sea near Curaçao on Saturday in a large-scale cleanup effort. The event was organized by the CASHA Dive Task Force, in collaboration with Curaçao Clean Up.

In total, more than 120 kilograms of waste were collected, including some unexpected items such as an old tractor tire. Divers from seven dive schools participated in the initiative, including Unique Diving, CURious2Dive, and All About Scuba.

The CASHA Dive Task Force, an initiative of the business association Travel2Curacao, regularly organizes similar cleanup events aimed at protecting the island’s marine environment. While the divers focused on underwater cleanup, waste was also collected on land during the same event.

According to the organizers, preserving the cleanliness of the sea and coastline remains a top priority. Those interested in taking part in future efforts are encouraged to sign up through one of the twelve affiliated dive schools.
