Osepa files complaint against Silvania for defamation

Local | By Correspondent December 17, 2024

WILLEMSTAD - Member of Parliament Sheldry Osepa has filed a complaint with the National Detective Agency against Minister Javier Silvania. The complaint follows a Facebook post by Silvania, in which he accused Osepa of leaking confidential information about social welfare recipients to Parliament.

Osepa strongly denies the accusation, claiming that Silvania is guilty of defamation. He stressed that the issue involves the privacy of more than five thousand citizens and that he is standing up for their rights. Furthermore, Osepa accuses the minister of failing to take responsibility for the leak and instead attempting to cover up the issue by blaming him.

In his complaint, Osepa asserts that Silvania himself ordered the data to be sent to Parliament, making the minister responsible for the leak of sensitive personal information. He is calling for a thorough investigation into how this situation occurred.
