Orange Fund and Children's Stamps launch program to strengthen families in the Caribbean

Local | By Correspondent May 15, 2024

THE HAGUE - The Orange Fund and Children's Stamps join forces to introduce the ambitious three-year program 'Strengthening Families Together' in the Caribbean islands of the Kingdom. This program aims to support social initiatives that assist families - children, youth, and parents - in vulnerable situations.

"Poverty and uncertainty are prominent challenges in the Caribbean islands. While these issues are not easily resolved with financial resources alone, with the support of Children's Stamps, we can provide a crucial boost to local initiatives that are working daily to address these issues," said Sandra Jetten, director of the Orange Fund.

"By supporting initiatives that focus on children, youth, and parents in difficult circumstances, we aim to lend a helping hand to these families and enable them to participate in society. For this purpose, the funds have reserved 2.5 million euros, with the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations contributing a one-time 500,000 euros to the program."

Strengthening

The program supports fifteen social organizations on the islands by strengthening their capacities. These organizations promote equal opportunities for children and youth, provide support to parents in vulnerable situations, and/or address poverty issues.

The ultimate goal is to sustainably strengthen these organizations. This is achieved through financial support, knowledge sharing, and providing a network. In addition, the infrastructure for capacity building of social organizations is supported by various partners.

Registration

Organizations in Aruba, Curaçao, Bonaire, Sint Maarten, Sint Eustatius, and Saba can apply until July 15 through the Collaborating Funds Caribbean. Participants will receive tools over three years to strengthen their skills, so that they can continue to exist as sustainable organizations after the program ends.

Children's Stamps is an organization dedicated to equal opportunities for all children, wherever they are in the world. Through impactful programs, they strengthen children's resilience and involve them in deciding their own future.

The Orange Fund aims for a society in which everyone has a meaningful role. With the support of partners such as the National Postcode Lottery and the Dutch Lottery, the fund works towards an engaged society where no one is left alone. King Willem-Alexander and Queen Máxima are the patron couple of the Orange Fund.
