OR staff not happy with reorganization

Local | By Correspondent April 20, 2023

WILLEMSTAD - The proposed reorganization of the operating room (OR) at Curaçao Medical Center (CMC) has caused discontent among the staff. The hospital management's plan has failed to impress the employees and the union representing them. According to reports, the staff and union representatives believe that their concerns are not being taken into consideration.

To address the issue, a delegation from the CBV care union and the OR staff met with the Minister of Health, Silvania, to discuss their grievances. The minister offered his support and agreed to hold a meeting with his advisers, the CMC board, the trade union and the Public Health inspector next week.

The OR staff are concerned that the proposed changes will have a negative impact on patient care and safety. They also believe that they were not consulted properly before the decision was made to reorganize the OR.

According to the union, the staff's grievances include concerns about workloads, staffing levels, and the potential for increased errors and delays due to the proposed changes.

The minister's intervention is a positive development, and the OR staff and union representatives hope that their concerns will be addressed in the upcoming meeting. They want the management to take their feedback seriously and to work with them to find solutions that will benefit both the hospital and its employees.
