Opposition to demonstrate against sale refinery

The call says a gift to the Klesh group.

WILLEMSTAD - The opposition parties MFK, Kòrsou di Nos Tur (KdNT) and Pueblo Soberano (PS) organized a protest on Monday morning against the sale of the refinery. The manifestation coincides with the parliamentary meeting where the MPs are dealing with this topic. The Prime Minister of Curaçao is also present.

The political leaders say that the manifestation is a gift to the Klesch group.

According to the parties, the refinery, the BOO and Bullen Bay together are worth almost one and a half billion dollars. They are against the fact that the government wants to sell Curaçao’s asset for the symbolic price of one dollar.

The Klesch group will take over the operation from PdVSA next year.

The event started at 9 a.m. on Wilhelminaplein and there are currently about 300 attending. The police are also present to step in if it gets out of hand. There are today three cruise ships in the harbor.
